Perks of being a squillionaire

In what alternate reality is a $100 Valentine’s Day gift “keeping it simple”?

This morning on “America’s Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest” (I was driving, people, my choices were limited) he interviewed Reggie Bush, of the New Orleans Saints, about his Valentine’s Day plans with girlfriend Kim Kardashian.

Bush said that since he has a large family and he and his sweetie tend to “go all-out for Christmas and birthdays” they agreed to set a $100 limit on Valentine’s Day presents for each other.

$100 huh?

I’m beyond happy if I get flowers. Even a wine-movie-snuggle night works. I would be a little suspicious — and guilty feeling — at a $100 gift.

I spent last Valentine’s Day with my then-boyfriend’s parents and two younger sisters hanging out in their living room because he “forgot.”

I’d be really interested to see the budget Reggie and Kim set for Christmas. “Here, honey. I bought you the Hope Diamond set in solid gold. Merry Christmas!”

Of course, they can afford it. I also don’t have complete strangers dissecting every aspect of my life, so it’s a pretty solid trade-off.
